Is it really a big deal?

When it comes to planning your dream wedding, especially during the budgeting process, it is understandable to start looking at cutting costs. However, there is a huge difference between your friend with a fancy camera and a professional wedding photographer. Below you will find my top reasons why I recommend you hire a professional wedding photographer.

(Hopefully, me! *wink, wink*)

We Are More Than a Fancy Camera

A professional photographer brings more to the table than just fancy equipment. They bring experience, knowledge and talent. A cheap camera in the hands of a true professional is better than the best equipment in the hands of an inexperienced hobbyist.

This article, originally posted on PetaPixel.com,  ‘This is What Happens If You Don’t Hire a Wedding Photographer’ gives great examples of why you should think twice about using a family member or friend to capture of your special day.

We Can Deal With the Unexpected

A professional wedding photographer will know exactly how to navigate your busy day. They’ll know what moments to watch out for, where to be for your first kiss and when to schedule everything for. A novice might not know to look for your Mom’s reaction as you walk down the aisle. They might not be able to capture both of your reactions during your first look.

Professionals have seen it all and know the flow of a wedding day. That means they’ll be able to capture more moments and create a day that will flow easily for you. When you know that your photographer is experienced and has planned ahead, you’ll be able to breathe a little easier knowing you are in good hands.

Just in Case

A professional photographer will also be prepared for emergencies. They will have a game plan in case things go sideways with your timeline or if they were to get sick. They will have a back-up plan in case of any disaster. Amateur photographers will likely only have a plan A that they’re betting on and that’s not comforting. They also may not be able to afford a back-up plan like a pro can. For a pro, that backup plan means everything.

You Only Have One Chance

You only have one chance to capture your wedding day. That means you have one chance to get those memories documented the right way. When you walk away from your wedding very few things will remain from it, one of those will be your photos. That’s why it is super important that you trust and have confidence in your photographer.

I say all of this to hopefully save you some stress and heartache. Choosing your photographer is a huge decision and not hiring a pro could leave you wishing you had done it differently.
