Mr. & Mrs. DelPrincipe

Today I'm happy to share with you this beautiful wedding, two years in the making!

I first met Ana Maria and Mike in the summer of 2020. (TBH, writing that feels odd, like it was a lifetime ago.) The future Mr. & Mrs. were originally set to marry in May of 2021, but life had other plans. Lots of other plans...

The first unexpected change occurred on my end. After struggling with fertility issues and receiving treatment, my husband and I finally became pregnant; a lot sooner than the doctors anticipated! We were overjoyed! However, as luck would have it, our baby's due date was expected to be on Ana Maria and Mike's wedding day!

After sharing the news with the couple, we resorted to game plan B. We arranged for someone from my wonderful team to take my place at their wedding; a first in all my time in the wedding industry. This incident highlighted the importance of an illness / emergency clause in every vendor contract. Clauses like this protect clients in the event of something happening to the vendor before an event.

These clauses should outline the steps to follow to ensure:

  • A) The client is taken care of
  • B) If a contract cancellation and/or refund are appropriate.

Pro Tip: When you hire anyone to be part of your wedding, ensure they have these types of clauses and that you agree with the proposed emergency procedure. If you do not agree to the terms, you may need to continue your vendor search.

A few weeks after our discussion, the COVID-19 pandemic changed our plans, again.

As cases rose all over the globe, the couple made the difficult decision to change their wedding date. The decision was made because many of the guests were expected from all over the country and abroad. The new date was an entire year and a half after their original date.

Ultimately, postponing was the best choice because:

  • A) With the roll out of vaccines, a decrease in cases and less traveling restrictions most guests would be able to attend the awaited event.
  • B) I would be able to personally shoot this wedding!

Pro Tip: When choosing any wedding vendor, ask about their postponement and cancelation rules. Make sure you are comfortable with what is stated in their contract. If you do not agree with the terms, that vendor may not be the best fit for you. It's also important to remember, vendor contracts are written by professionals and altering them is, usually, not an option.

Finally! A whole pandemic and a baby later, the big day finally arrived.

It was undoubtedly worth the wait! The wedding venue, The French Farmhouse in Collinsville, TX, was a stunning setting for the celebration, Please see for yourselves. Enjoy this beautiful couple's wedding gallery, full of elegant details and even an It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia rum ham cake.
