Riley & Juliana

Have you ever told a little white lie or asked someone to save your number under a fake name, maybe even a superhero like Spiderman? You’re probably wondering, “Elizabeth, what the heck does this have to do with photography?” Well, for Riley and his mom, it was all part of a perfectly orchestrated plan.

Riley reached out to me with one goal: to plan the perfect surprise proposal. He wanted everything to stay under wraps. Strategic phone calls? Check. A secret code name? Check. (Apparently, I’m Peter Parker if you look at Riley and his mom’s phones. iykyk.)

Riley’s mom and I met at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden the weekend before to scout locations. We laughed, plotted, and hugged with excitement, knowing we were about to pull off something incredible under the guise of a simple family photoshoot.

When Saturday arrived, the late afternoon sunlight poured through the trees of the Botanic Garden, casting a warm glow over everything. We wandered through the garden’s pathways, stopping at scenic spots along the way. Each turn revealed something breathtaking—bamboo groves, flowing streams, and koi ponds surrounded by vibrant greenery. The relaxed pace helped everyone settle in front of the camera as Riley prepared for his moment.

When we reached the big bridge in the Japanese Garden, Riley gave the signal, it was time. With Julianna’s back turned, he knelt, ring in hand. The second she turned and saw him, her surprise melted into tears and laughter. Their family, watching from nearby, clapped softly, joined by a few garden visitors who paused to share in the joy of the moment.

After the excitement settled, we took a few family photos before stepping away for some portraits of just Riley and Julianna.

The Japanese Garden’s iconic wooden gate provided the perfect backdrop. Its intricate design and natural tones beautifully framed the couple as they shared private moments together.

Enough words! Please see the beautiful couple's gallery below!

Riley and Julianna, thank you for allowing me to be part of such a meaningful day. Wishing you both all the happiness in this exciting new chapter.
