Mr. & Mrs. DuBois

Today I'm happy to share with you David and Elizabeth's elegantly classic winter wedding at the Century Hall in Downtown Fort Worth, TX. Their wedding was full of amazing details, not to mention the beautiful urban and industrial touches at the venue and its surroundings.

I think this wedding is a perfect example of how straying from the "traditional Texas wedding," usually at venue in the country or out in the open, can be a truly unique and refreshing celebration. Much like the DuBois', you can have an urban wedding with a few strictly Texas touches (see the boots and the Shiner Bock!)

Please enjoy this beautiful gallery and stay tuned at the end for my take on why you should consider an urban setting as your wedding location!

If you're getting married in the city or are considering it, think of following:

Your location/venue look can affect the feel and tone of your celebration.

The venue you choose will determine how your wedding will feel and how your pictures will look, so it’s important to choose a location that you love.

If you gravitate toward photos with lots of greenery, trees and open spaces, an urban location may not be the best for you. If you love to admire architecture, if you like the bustling city and think it adds beauty to the background an urban wedding may be the right fit for you.

My favorite places to shoot wedding portraits include:

  • Downtown Fort Worth, specifically around Houston Street and The Century Hall.
  • Sundance Square in Fort Worth. The Courthouse is my favorite spot!
  • Klyde Warren Park in Dallas, and the surrounding DMA area.
  • Frisco Square in Frisco.
  • The Bishop Arts District.
  • The Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge .
  • Deep Ellum in Dallas.

You can have great wedding photos even if you don't have acres of space around your venue.

Whether your venue is a warehouse space or an outdoor park, you can't forget that photography is about capturing moments in time. A good photographer can make any location look great! A skilled photographer knows how to work with light and shadows, indoors and out.

David and Elizabeth, your wedding was a blast! I loved photographing you and I loved returning to the Century Hall, one of the best locations to have a wedding in the city!

I wish you the best in your marriage journey!
