Yes, you do!

If you recently became engaged, perhaps you and your fiancé have already asked yourselves, "Do we really need an engagement photo shoot?"

I may be a little biased, but I say, "Yes, you do!"

These types of sessions have become increasingly popular over the last few years, for a few good reasons. In this post, I want to share with you why I strongly believe having an engagement session is important and beneficial for your wedding planning process.

Reason 1: It's practice for the big day!

If you're anything like me, being in front of the camera feels weird. So, what better way to get rid of those nerves than by facing those weird feelings head on! Think of it as a test run for the big day!

I believe it’s so much easier to navigate those feelings and become more comfortable in front of the camera during an engagement session, since only you, your fiancé and your photographer will be there. In my experience, it normally takes about 10-15 minutes for those nerves to dissipate and for you to feel more comfortable.

During this session, you can safely and slowly get the hang of things, which may be a lot easier than trying to do so on your busy wedding day.

Reason 2: It can help you build a relationship with your photographer.

I love working with couples on their engagement sessions! It is a fun way to really get to know them, their personalities and the way they interact.

These sessions are an amazing opportunity to really show off who you are. Please let your freak flag fly high! Getting to know the true you will help your photographer capture more photos that feel like you on your wedding day.

Vice versa, you get to know your photographer, which will hopefully be me!

If you choose me to do your engagement session, you will learn how I pose, how I talk and all the little quirks that make me unique. Yes, I will sing to you and cheer you on all day long! You can expect more of the same on your wedding day!

Reason 3: You will receive high quality photos

Celebrating this unique season in your life is so special and documenting every step of the way is such a neat experience.

Unfortunately, most people don’t get professional photos done often. So, an engagement session can serve as an opportunity to get professional high quality photos which you can then use for many things like your save-the-dates, guest book, wedding website and any other place you want to show them off!

So really, it’s fun and practical.

The bottom line:

Ultimately, it comes down to creating memories. Down the road, you’ll be so thankful you preserved those moments.

If you have any questions about engagement sessions or are ready to book one please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am here to make sure you have an incredible experience and know all the ins-and-outs of the photo process!

Untill next time. Happy wedding planning!
