Mr. & Mrs. Holinbaugh

I am a big believer in the idea that your wedding will be perfect, no matter what. Sure, you spend months planning for every detail to be just so, but it doesn't all have to go according to plan for it to be magical.

As someone who's photographed a few perfectly imperfect weddings, I can tell you my couples still had an amazing time. I'd argue that the rain can add something special to your big day!

Here is a perfect example of how rain doesn't equate to a ruined wedding! Check out Gary & Amanda's beautiful rainy wedding day gallery and find out why I think rain can make your big day even more special!

If you're worried about possible rain on your wedding day, here are some tips and things to consider:

Consider This: The rain can add to the romantic atmosphere.

Rainy day weddings can be perfect for couples who want to get married in a more intimate setting. Maybe you always wanted to say your vows in a beautiful old church, but it's too crowded with tourists during the summer. Or maybe the venue in your hometown with the perfect garden is too popular on sunny days and not available when you need it.

Rainy day weddings can also be perfect for couples who want to get married in a more rustic setting, like Fort Worth Country Memories. The rain is a good reason to consider saying "I do" under a place like their outdoor open chapel surrounded by trees.

Tip: Be prepared for the rain. Embrace it!

Always be prepared. You can't control the weather, but if you have an umbrella or two on hand, it'll make everyone's day a little easier. Your guests will appreciate knowing that they are not going to get soaked while walking from their cars to your venue or during any outdoor photo ops. And if there's one thing I know about wedding guests, it's that they won't mind getting wet if they know it makes everyone else happy!

Tip: Make sure to have a back-up plan.

Even if you've chosen a venue that has ample indoor seating and space for the ceremony, it's still a good idea to have a backup plan in place. Even if you're sure that it will stay dry, there's nothing wrong with having an umbrella handy—especially because things can change quickly, we're in Texas after all.

Tip: Trust Your Team

Your planning team or wedding party should make sure that everyone knows what's going on—and make sure there are signs around so people know where they're supposed to go if needed. Consider packing paper and sharpies for a "worst case scenario".

As long as you have a good time, and your guests have fun too, you’ll be fine. By being prepared with alternative plans and having a positive attitude about the situation, you can make sure that your special day isn’t dampened by bad weather.

Gary & Amanda, I wish you the best in your marriage. Thanks for being a great example of how love is stronger than a Texas downpour.
